NCG CALL FOR APPLICANTS FOR THE POSITION OF NATIONAL ADMINISTRATOR

Due to the resignation of the present National Administrator, Martin Dickson, the National Coordinating Group (NCG) is calling for applicants for our national staff person. Martin has been offered a position in Oxford, England and will be leaving after National Conference.

The timetable for applications is short, so please note the following details carefully.

Friday 11th June: Request for information pack must have reached the National Office.
Friday 18th June: Completed applications to the National Office.
Week Mon. 21-Friday 25 June: Applicants may be interviewed.
Week 27 June-3 July: It will be highly desirable for the successful applicant to attend the AGM and National Conference, and spend time in the office with the present Administrator.

National Administrator Job description

  • Maintain day to day administration of SCMA. Including: acting as petty cash treasurer, collecting and sorting correspondence (internal and external) responding to mail, maintaining the national files, [and maintaining financial records*.]
  • Work with the NCG and National Co-ordinators to ensure the efficient continuing functioning of the movement.
  • Maintain communication between SCMA and local SCM units, (including affiliation).
  • Maintain communication with the World Student Christian Federation-Asia Pacific Regional office in Hong Kong and the Inter-Regional Office in Geneva including affiliation).
  • Act as minute secretary to the NCG of SCMA.
  • Be the contact point for SCMA with other groups, internationally and nationally.
  • Attend AGMs, conferences, and other national meetings as required, record and distribute minutes.
  • Keep SCMA within its constitutional requirements.
  • Share information, facilitate communication in the movement, produce the monthly newsletter.

In addition to the information in the handbook, the NCG has made some decisions regarding the position these will be described in the information pack, and include:
Essential Criteria:

  • Commitment to the Aims of SCMA. (See Handbook page 5)
  • Able to be based in Whanganui-a-Tara/Wellington, Otautahi/Christchurch or Otepoti/Dunedin. (Due to SCMA's commitment to communication and supervision.)
  • Able to work in SCM ways.
The position is 20 hours per week and permanent, dependant on funding. (Two months notice will be given of redundancy or reduction of hours). The pay scale will be from $11.50 per hour to $12.50 per hour plus telephone rental allowance.

1999 SCMA NATIONAL CONFERENCE PROGRAMME Sunday 27 June to Saturday 3 July in Otautahi/Christchurch. Annual reports are due now from local SCM groups, national coordinators and project groups. If you have not yet registered for the conference, and want to come, please send your registration to the National Office.
