appointed National Secretary effective 2nd February 2004. (more)

New National Secretary Appointed: SCMA is delighted
to announce that Mandla akhe Dube was appointed National Secretary effective
2nd February 2004. He hails from SCM Zimbabwe where he served as National
Coordinator for five years. Mandla, a Zimbabwean trained journalist and
human rights activist, has been living in Aotearoa New Zealand since
November 2002. He is a strong believer in dynamic student movements. He
succeeds Tess Windle who has gone to Teachers college. Good luck Tess,
welcome Mandla.

Speaking Tour 2002: Beate Fagerli , Co-Secretary General of WSCF
29 June-7 July. Beate visited Auckland, Christchurch
and Dunedin to talk about what WSCF and SCM movements around the world are up

Canterbury-Lincoln has been appointed National Secretary from December 2001.
The World Student Christian Federation
Asia-Pacific Region has chosen SCMA to host "Women Doing Theology 2002." (more)
Michael Perkins has resigned as National Secretary
to take up a new position in Wellington. He finishes work on 14th September
after almost 2.5 years.
SCM Aotearoa National Conference in Auckland is over. Details on

CCANZ is holding a Conference on Evangelism 1-3 June in
Wellington. Details from National Office and
CCANZ. SCM has been offered
half-price registration (only $50), and fully funded air travel for two members.
Send expressions of interest to National Office by 11 May. If there are more
than two people interested, then the NCG will make a selection.
Speakers at the conference include
- Daniel Thiagarajah (CCA) speaking
on
"Addressing the Tension between the imperative to proclaim the Gospel and
respecting the spirituality of other Living Faiths"
- Stephanie McIntyre (Anglican Social Justice Commission) speaking on
"What is the Good news to the poor - Poverty in New Zealand and the
Challenge to the Church"
- and Kevin Ward speaking on "The effects of Postmodernism on
congregations".
The World Council of Churches has announced 5 one year-long
internships with WCC starting in September 2001. Full details from the

SCMA has been invited to send a delegate to the planning session of CCA Asia
Youth week in Bangalore (application form and more
