Re : Invitation to the Women Doing Theology Workshop
Fr : Regional Women's Program Coordinator

Dear Friends,

Kind Greetings to all of you !

Once again we would like to invite your movement to send one participant to the "Women Doing Theology Workshop", to be held this coming August 26 to September 4,2000 in Manila, Philippines. Being a regular program of WSCF, we hope to gather 16 women and 4 men to study and understand the role of theology in the life of WSCF and the national movements.  Specifically, the workshops aims to achieve the following objectives;
  • To introduce and promote the  importance of women to do theology from the women's perspective in the SCMs;
  • To build up a firm foundation of biblical and theological understanding for men and women in the SCMs;
  • To search for and redefine theologically the meaning of partnership between men and women and what this means for human liberation;
  • To explore and develop resources on feminist bible study, women doing theology, women's stories, songs and liturgies, etc.
  • To cultivate theological understanding as well as respond in concrete action on the following issues; (Urban Poor, Labour, Migrant, Violence Against Women; Building awareness on Partnership; Issues: Poverty, Religious conflict; Theology from experience)

In selecting your movement's participant, we would like to suggest the
following criteria in your selection process. A young woman, if possible, a theology student; currently an active member of the movement or willing to devote time in SCM work; interested to learn and study feminist theology. We hope that the movement will seriously consider this training opportunity and how the participant can contribute to the life of the movement.
In the spirit of mutual understanding and cooperation, we hope that the
movement can contribute to the financial needs of their participant by
sponsoring 30% of the airfare of the participant. We are particularly
making this request to movements from Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand.

Please find enclosed registration form and concept paper for your participant. Kindly send the registration form on or before July 31,2000
via e-mail, fax or post. This letter, registration form and concept paper
will also be sent thru post.

Thank you very much for your attention and looking forward to hear from you very soon !

Sincerely Yours,

NECTA C. MONTES
Regional Women's Program Coordinator
